Nikolaj Viltoft, Principal Trumpet of the Royal Danish Opera, answers questions about the audition process. (Global Audition Training Interview)

Nikolaj Viltoft, born in 1977 in Denmark, studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and at the Cologne University of Music. In 2003 he won the job as principal trumpet at the Paris Opera becoming the first non-french wind player ever to hold a position in this orchestra.
Since 2006 he has occupied the position of principal trumpet at the Royal Danish Opera. With the brass quintet Art of Brass Copenhagen he has won the International Brass Quintet Competition in Narbonne in 2000 and the International Jan Koetsier Wettbewerb i München in 1999. Since 2008 he has been teaching at the Royal Danish Academy of Music.
