New World Symphony cello fellow Grace An demonstrates how to change a string on a cello
Grace An is a second-year Cello Fellow with the New World Symphony. Since the beginning of her musical journey at the age of six, orchestral, chamber music and solo performances have taken Ms. An to several of the world’s most renowned venues, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Sydney Opera House and Tokyo’s Suntory Hall. Festival appearances include the Castleton Festival, Pacific Music Festival, Spoleto Festival USA, Banff Centre and the Nice Festival Academy.
In addition to her orchestral studies, Ms. An has fostered a passion for community engagement and arts education, receiving teaching artist training at the Manhattan School of Music along with teaching experience at several schools in New York City. She is actively involved in the New World Symphony’s community education and audience outreach programs. Ms. An began her musical training at the Colburn School of Performing Arts in Los Angeles and completed degrees at the Eastman School of Music, Manhattan School of Music and Stanford University. She performs on a rare French cello by Nicolas Darche dated 1841.
