Beethoven: Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano in C Major, Op.56 - Mvt. I Chad Hoopes, violin Matt Allen, cello Daniil Trifonov, piano March 21, 2013 in Kulas Hall Beethoven’s Triple Concerto was composed in 1803 and published in 1804. It is the only concerto Beethoven wrote for more than one solo instrument. Chad Hoopes won first prize at the Young Artists Division of the Yehudi Menhuin International Violin Competition. Chad studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Joel Smirnoff. Matt Allen was named the Gold Medalist in the Gaspar Cassado International Violoncello Competition in Hachioji, Japan. He was born in 1992, and graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music in 2013. He studied under Melissa Kraut. Daniil Trifonov has earned top prizes at numerous competitions, including the Arthur Rubinstein competition in Tel Aviv, the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw and the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. He is currently a student of Sergei Babayan at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
