Uwe Dierksen, trombonist of Ensemble Modern, talks about his background

Uwe Dierksen

Uwe Dierksen, born in Hannover in 1959, studied the trombone in Hannover, Hamburg and London before becoming a trombonist with the Ensemble Modern in 1983. Since then, he has worked together with many internationally renowned musicians, composers and conductors. He has performed numerous musical pieces composed exclusively for him and his music has been recorded on more than 20 CDs, one-third of which feature his solo pieces. He has worked as a guest professor and lecturer at the Bremen University of the Arts and is currently a lecturer at the International Holiday Courses in Darmstadt and the Impuls Master Courses in Graz.
As a soloist, Mr. Dierksen has performed in concert with a number of international orchestras and ensembles, including the Arditti Quartet, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Austrian Symphony Orchestra, the Frankfurter Opern- und Museumsorchester, the Saarland Radio Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Modern in the Tokyo City Opera, the Dutch Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Lisbon Concert Orchestra/Portugal the MDR Symphony Orchestra and the Scharoun Ensemble.
